The West Austin Neighborhood Group will be hosting our Annual Social and Meeting Sunday, October 24 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Mayfield Park.   We hope that you will join us.  This year, in addition to updates and discussion on both the Brackenridge Tract and the Neighborhood Plan, we will focus on our much loved neighborhood parks and celebrate the volunteers who commit countless hours to the beautification of these wonderful community assets.  Each parks support organization will give you a brief update on all the fantastic progress they are making.  Jill Nokes, outstanding incoming President of the Austin Parks Foundation, will expand on that theme and will talk about funding issues and opportunities.  The City of Austin will discuss both water conservation and its landscape rebate programs as well as the issue of sustainability and Texas Gas will outline its rebate programs and conservation measures you can take to hold down costs as winter approaches.

Of course, refreshments will be provided.  But this is also an opportunity for many of you to not only tour Mayfield, perhaps for the first time, but to adventure into the Mayfield Preserve.  Volunteers have done a great deal of trail restoration and invasive plant removal over the last few years and it should be wonderful on a fall afternoon to enjoy the fruit of their labor.  Please join us and your fellow neighbors.
