On May 10, 2010, State Representative Elliot Naishtat wrote to the Board of Regents Subcommittee to describe the significance of the Brackenridge Tract, both as a “lynch pin of the West Austin neighborhood” and as part of the City’s early desegregation history, and to recommend that the future of the Brackenridge Tract be considered in the context of broader negotiations between the city, county and university directed at advancing these many joint interests, especially regarding health sciences and biotech research.
