    From the Old Enfield List Serve today Tuesday 8/2

    It has been reported by a homeowner near Windsor Road East that a person last week was walking along Windsor Road East and if he saw a newspaper lying in the yard he picked it up and rang the doorbell. He mumbled something about having the wrong address if someone answered the doorbell. We dont know what he did if no one answered the doorbell. I dont know if it is related but there was a burglary of a residence on Parkway on 7/27 per the police crime stats.

    Folks if you are going to be out of town call the newspaper and stop delivery or ask a neighbor to pick up your papers for you. Neighbors help your fellow neighbors out. If you see newspapers stacking up put them in the shrubs for your neighbor or hide them some place.

    Will Harvey our neighborhood police rep has been contacted. He has look at the stats and reports of the recent crime spree in Old Enfield. He asks us to be sure to lock our cars even if your car is parked in your driveway. Remember if your car is unlocked people can get into your trunk and other secure areas of your car. Harvey says criminals are not just going after unlocked cars on the street. They are getting bolder and going after unlocked cars behind houses and even parked close to the house in a driveway. . .

    We have also seen an increase in graffiti in our neighborhood in the last few weeks. . If you see it call 311 and report it. Give them the address or as close to the address as you can. . If you still dont see it get cleaned up call Julie at the City of Austin 854-4591

    Help stamp out crime. If you wake up at night check out your front windows. Many of these graffiti crimes and car break in criminals get caught by accident by an observant public. Call 911 if you see any suspicious activity. If you come home late at night or leave early in the morning be alert for suspicious activity.

    Guidelines:

    * never, ever post commercial messages (aka spam) of any type —
    whether or not personal or otherwise (instead use Craigslist or
    eBay);
    * only post once/day/topic and to cut and paste and combine messages
    as appropriate to include and respond to only those pieces
    appropriate to your response (exceptions made for discussions
    where timeliness is an issue — such as when action is imminent);
    * sign your full name (so we know who you are) with your
    neighborhood (so we know the area where you live) and any
    affiliations with the particular subject matter at hand (for full
    disclosure);
    * refrain from forwarding/posting private e-mails as quoting
