TAYLOR SLOUGH/REED PARK CREEK BACTERIA: The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will hold a public meeting to develop a citizen-based plan to reduce bacteria levels in four Austin streams. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, Room 325. Parking is available in the adjacent parking garage.
Water quality improvement plans will be started for Walnut Creek, Waller Creek, the Spicewood Tributary to Shoal Creek, and Taylor Slough South.
The goal of the meeting is to begin organizing a group of citizen stakeholders who will formulate the plan to reduce bacteria in the four streams.
Staff members from the TCEQ will outline the processes involved in creating the implementation plan to reduce bacteria. City of Austin staff members will talk about what the city is already doing with the streams and the specific details of the project.
Project Coordinator Suzanne Schwartz, from the UT School of Law, will discuss opportunities for involvement by local citizens and discuss citizen interests, concerns, and recommendations.
