October 1st 11:30 a.m. BCSI: Botanical Crime Scene Investigation
Plant detective Denise Delaney from the City of Austin Grow Green program demonstrates how to diagnose plant problems and gives valuable gardening tips for the Austin climate. A question and answer session follows the presentation, along with Denise’s tour of the Howson Branch Library’s xeriscape demonstration garden.
October 1st 1:30 p.m. Gardening for Fall and Winter
Travis County Master Gardener Reeve Hobbie presents an overview of what to do in your garden as we move from the extreme heat of summer to possible freezing temperatures this winter. Join us for this informative afternoon program.
October 15th 11:30 a.m. Composting & Recycling Class
Attend our Composting Class and learn how to get a rebate from the City of Austin for the purchase of a compost bin. Get the dirt on how and why to compost, plus test your knowledge of single stream recycling. Presented by City of Austin Solid Waste Services.
October 15th 1:30 p.m. Sapling Day
Learn about tree selection, planting and pruning from the experts. A limited number of free saplings will be given away by Tree Folks and Austin Urban Forestry (Parks and Recreation). Youth volunteers will be available from Discover Green, so bring the family !
